House Speaker Meets The UN's Head Mission In Iraq

BAGHDAD, IRAQ (NINA) - Speaker of Parliament Salim al-Jubouri stressed the keenness of the parliament to prepare all the necessary measures to hold the elections within their constitutional deadlines and ensure participation of all without any exceptions or pressure exerted on the Iraqi voter to lose the right to vote freely. The Information Office of the Speaker of Parliament said that "Speaker of the Parliament met the head of the UN mission in Iraq, Jan Kubiš. During the meeting, they discussed the political and security developments in Iraq and the region and preparations for holding the elections on time. The meeting also reviewed the mechanism of participation of IDPs and displaced persons in the elections," Jubouri stressed "The importance of continuing international support for Iraq, whether in its war against terrorism or the file of reconstruction and the return of displaced people to their liberated cities by creating conditions of life and security for them."
