House Speaker Meets A European Delegation

BAGHDAD / NINA / House Speaker, Salem al-Jubouri said he is looking forward to further cooperation with the EU to promote the EU's role in supporting the legislative institution in the country. A statement for the Office of the head of the Council said that "al-Jubouri discussed, during a meeting with a delegation from the European Union, headed by Christian Barker Deputy EU Foreign Services Manager in the Middle East, North Africa and Iraq, the political and security situation, and the role of the parliament in passing important laws.". Jubouri confirmed that "parliament passed many important laws, the most prominent the law of parties and investment," noting that "there are some controversial laws that require approval to pass them, specially National Guard, general amnesty and de-Baathification and the importance of moving towards the establishment of suitable ground for the speedy enactment of these laws." He stressed "the importance of providing political and security stability for the Iraqi people, especially in areas that have been freed from the control of the terrorist organization Daash" stressing "the need to give priority to the laws that affect the lives of citizens ." For their part, the delegation of the European Union expressed their support for the efforts of the Parliament, represented by Chairman of the Council, stressing their keenness to cooperate with the parliamentary committees to ensure legislation important laws." ./ End
