House Speaker Meets EU Head Mission In Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq (NINA) - Speaker of Parliament Salim al-Jubouri affirmed Iraq's need to international community's support to rebuild liberated cities and return displaced people to their areas. "The speaker of the parliament discussed with the European Union ambassador in Iraq, Patrick Simone, and the accompanying delegation on the occasion of the end of his duties in Iraq, the main political and security developments in the country as well as discussing bilateral relations between Iraq and the European Union countries," a statement from Jubouri's office said. "Iraqi forces continue to prepare for the liberation of the rest of the territory controlled by the criminal gangs, especially Tal Afar, Hawija and areas west of Anbar, and Iraq needs the international community to stand with Iraq," Jubouri said. He added that "Iraq has passed a difficult and sensitive stage of its history represented by salvation from Daesh, and it is waiting for the international community to assist in the file of reconstruction and the return of displaced people to their areas after the provision of necessary services ," adding that "Iraq is waiting for more support, especially in the file of relief displaced families and support Reconstruction of liberated cities, rehabilitation of infrastructure damaged by military operations, and the importance of supporting efforts to achieve civil peace. " Jubouri appreciated the efforts of the EU ambassador during his tenure in Iraq and his role in expanding the framework of relations between Iraq and the EU countries during the last period. For his part, the Ambassador of the European Union reiterated the support of Iraq in its war against terrorism and the keenness of the EU countries to maintain cooperation and at all levels and to contribute to reconstruction projects and provide the necessary expertise./ End
