House Speaker Meets British Ambassador To Baghdad

BAGHDAD / NINA / House Speaker Salim al-Jubouri confirmed the importance of continuing international support in order to sustain the momentum of the battle in Mosul and end Daesh. A statement by the Information Office of the President of the House of Representatives said "al-Jubouri today received the British ambassador to Iraq, Frank Baker and his accompanying delegation, and discussed with him the overall security and political situation, the developments of the Iraqi scene, as well as the British support for Iraq in its war against terrorism, and post-Daesh, and victories achieved by our security forces in Mosul. The statement added that the two sides also discussed the joint cooperation between the two countries and ways to strengthen bilateral relations, as the president of the House of Representatives praised the role of British in supporting Iraq, especially on the relief and humanitarian levels, and the importance of continued international support in order to sustain the battle momentum in Mosul and end Daesh which threatens the security of all countries of the world. For his part, the British ambassador expressed his country's desire to establish a special relationship between the two countries, stressing that Britain is essential supportive for Iraq in its war against terrorism and in various other fields. / End
