Hospitality school to open in Bahrain

Manama, Apr.29 (BNA) The Government has agreed to allocate a land plot to reopen the hospitality school. A new track will be launched for high school students wishing to speacialise in the hospitality sector.
The President of Hospitality Specific Hospitality Training Council Ibrahim Al-Kooheji unveiled the plan in an interview with Bahrain News Agency.
He announced that a project would be launched within two months to improve the remunerations of Bahraini working in the sector; pointing out that BD3 million have been already allocated to fund the scheme.
He revealed that the Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning Ministry would draw the necessary engineering designs for the planned school and follow-up the feasibility study within four to five years.
Al-Kooheji said that he expects the number of students who would graduate from the planned school with a two-year diploma in hospitality to top 500.
A specialized hospitality school opened in 1977 in Muharraq and attracted students from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries but it closed its doors in 1997.
Citing update figures, Al-Kooheji said that a total of 1851 people work in the hospitality sector, stressing ongoing efforts to enhance the rate of Bahrainisation.
