HM the King receives legislative branch's annual report

Manama, Oct. 6 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has received the annual report of the Representatives and Shura Councils for the first session of the fourth legislative term.
This came as HM King Hamad received at Al-Sakhir Palace today the Speaker of the Representatives Council Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla and the Chairman of the Shura Council Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh and number of the two councils' members, who submitted to him the annual report.
HM the King commended the outstanding and successful efforts exerted by the Representatives Council Speaker, Shura Council Chairman and members of the two councils to serve the nation and the citizens, underscoring the importance of the role played by the Legislative Branch in consolidating the democratic process and the parliamentary march and enhancing their contributions to the comprehensive progress march witnessed by the kingdom in various fields.
HM King Hamad praised the national achievements attained by the two councils, as well as their effective role in adopting the Bahraini society's issues, developing laws and legislation and strengthening the pillars of the state of law and institutions.
HM the King also lauded the role played by the Representatives and Shura Councils in defending national issues at international gatherings, and boosting the kingdom's relations with brotherly and friendly countries.
The Kingdom's Constitutions stipulates openly that the system of government is based on the principle of separation of powers while maintaining cooperation between the three branches in accordance with its provisions, HM the King said, noting that according to the constitution, cooperation between the legislative, executive and judicial branches shall be based on respect for the constitutional provisions which require that the jurisdictions of each branch do not overlap with the others'.
None of the three branches may assign all or part of its powers stated in this Constitution, HM King Hamad added, issuing directives to the kingdom's authorities to respect the principle of separations of powers between the three branches while maintaining cooperation among themselves within the framework of non-overlapping of jurisdictions.
HM the King affirmed that the democratic march in the kingdom will continue, expressing hope that the legislative branch will optimise national achievements, enhance the national march and serve the national economy during the new session of the fourth legislative term.
HM the King reviewed with the audience a number of issues related to the nation and the citizens, as well as ways to develop the institutional work in order to achieve the aspired for goals.
HM King Hamad praised Bahrainis' efforts to serve their nation, and keenness on cementing cohesion and solidarity for the sake of the kingdom's development and progress.
HM the King wished everybody success in assuming the national duties.
