HM the King congratulates Royal Endurance team on historic world title

Manama, Oct. 24 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa held a telephone call with the Royal Endurance Team Director, Head of the media delegation and team riders following the team's historic winning of the World Endurance Championships for Young Riders & Juniors, held in Chile. HM King Hamad expressed deep pride in the team's winning of the first place both at the individual and team levels. HM King Hamad lauded the outstanding performance of the Bahraini riders throughout the race. On the occasion, HM the King’s Personal Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa extended sincere congratulations to HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier. Shaikh affirmed that the unprecedented double exploit was the fruitful outcome of HM King Hamad's support to the endurance sport which, he said, gained the kingdom innumerable honourable achievements over the past years. Rider Fahad Al Khatri won the race, held for a distance of 120 km across five stages, clocking 5:20:57. He was followed by UAE Said Mohammed, team mate Mansoor Said Al-Farisis. The Bahraini team, comprising riders Fahad Al Khatri, Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Salim Sabt and Dana Al-Binghadeer, also clinched the first place of the level of team. 11 countries, including the UAE, Qatar, Algeria and Bahrain, participated in the championship.
