HM the King chairs Supreme Defence Council meeting

Manama, Apr. 7. (BNA) – His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander, chaired today the meeting of the Supreme Defence Council (SDC), in the presence of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister. The SDC, which convened at Al-Sakhir Palace, discussed topics on its agenda, including following up on achievements and evaluating them, determining the necessary goals in order to upgrade the defence and security capabilities and taking the right decisions for the benefit of the security of the homeland, the citizens and residents. HM the King thanked all the affiliates of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), Interior Ministry, the National Guard and the National Security Agency for the fruitful efforts they are exerting to safeguard the hard-won landmark national achievements of the Kingdom and its people. HM King Hamad also praised their role in strengthening the pillars of security and stability across the nation, affirming that enhancing the kingdom's progress and security is a common responsibility. HM the King lauded the crucial participation of the BDF in Operation Decisive Storm in which the Kingdom is taking part upon HM's orders in response to a call from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and a request from the legitimate authority in brotherly Yemen, within the framework of the GCC Joint Defence Pact, the Arab League Charter and the Joint Arab Defence Pact. Operation Decisive Storm aims to protect legitimacy, sovereignty and stability of brotherly Yemen, and counter the armed terrorist militias posing a threat to Yemen and its dear people, as well as regional stability, HM the King said. HM the King affirmed that Bahrain's standing by brotherly and friendly countries in such a noble mission adds to BDF's brave and professional participations in many similar missions since its establishment, which, he said, will remain engraved with golden letters, expressing pride in the BDF's brave affiliates. The Kingdom's participation in Operation Decisive Storm confirms, anew, Bahrain's status as an influential and important country in the international community, a country that always seeks good and security, HM the King said, wishing the brave BDF personnel further success and victory. HM the King stressed that along with its efforts to enhance its development and progress, the kingdom should always augment its defence and security capabilities so as to be able to maintain its landmark achievements. HM King Hamad extended sincere appreciation to all the affiliates of the Kingdom's armed forces for their dedication and devotion in serving the homeland.
