Health Minister receives community welfare centre officials

Manama, Jan. 14 (BNA): Health Minister Faeqa bint Saeed Al Saleh stressed the welfare of persons with special needs in the Kingdom of Bahrain is considered a shared responsibility by all official and private sectors and institutions. The minister met Tafawul Cenre's Executive Office's Deputy Chairman Khalid Al Amir and the centre's director, Osama Ahmed, who briefed the minister about the centre's awareness campaign regarding the category of persons with special needs. The minister has affirmed the ministry's support to the campaign slated to begin in February. The ministry will continue to support the awareness campaign by enlightening the public about the needs of this category through the ministry-affiliated health centres (HCs) and orienting physicians dealing with such cases. She expressed the ministry's readiness to cooperate and contribute with the centre in this campaign. The ministry will spare no efforts in the provision of health and treatment services to this category of people and help them assimilate into their community, the minister affirmed. The minister listened to a brief presentation about Tafawul Centre for the Welfare of Persons with Special Needs and its main activities to provide educational services and help this category to rely upon themselves and assimilate into their local community. The minister was also briefed about the centre's major accomplishments including the issuance of awareness brochures and leaflets as well as its provision of support and care to a large number of persons with special needs within the Kingdom of Bahrain and from Gulf countries.
