HE the Prime Minister Announces the Setting Up of a New Humanitarian Military Center in Doha

Doha , November 29 (QNA) - HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani announced on Tuesday the establishing of a new Humanitarian Military Center called Imteyaz. He said the center aims to improve the efficiency of military aid during natural disasters. Addressing the participants today of the International Conference on the Hopefor initiative held in the Ritz Carlton, HE the Prime Minister And Foreign Minister said he is confident that the center, which will target the Middle East and West Asia, will enhance regional cooperation. The center will also pave the way for a global framework where all endeavors will be used together to handle natural disasters in the most efficient manner, HE the Prime Minister told the audience. At the beginning of his speech about the Hopefor initiative, his excellence spoke about the role of the State of Qatar which suggested using the military assets to provide immediate relief to Turkey and the Dominican Republic in cooperation with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. HE the Prime Minister said in that regard that the intrinsic connection between different countries is one of the key characteristics of today's world adding meantime that it is no longer imaginable now a days that one country can live in isolation of others. HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani further said that it is for the reason listed above that Imteyaz Center will prove to be very beneficial in achieving peace and stability. HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister went on to say that the efforts of the United Nations, represented by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, in facing natural disasters has undoubtedly contributed to alleviating the suffering and damage faced by affected countries. HE Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani noted however that the succession of these natural disasters at an increasing rate caused a lot of damages. His Excellence added that there is no country that's immune to similar crises, and so it is only a matter of time before another crisis ensues. That is why the State of Qatar launched their Hopefor Initiative which calls on using military assets in relief operations, HE the Prime Minister said. HE Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani further said in his address before the said conference that the Hopefor Initiative aims for the effective use of military assets in relief operations carried out during natural disasters adding that the initiative will improve relief operations, because military assets are much more effective than other means. HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister went on say that the State of Qatar has been in talks with different countries and institutions to get their feedback on the initiative, adding that anyone who's following the initiative can see how it developed based on the feedback of all involved parties. HE the Prime Minister praised the Hopefor Initiative International Conference for its positive feedback which, his excellence said, gave the initiative an international dimension. He added that the conference will also help make the initiative more effective through the feedback the participants provided. Meanwhile, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bashir Atalay said that Turkey backs the initiative noting however that the conference held in Qatar, with the support of Turkey and the Dominican Republic , helped enrich the dialogue on how to use military assets in relief operations. All three countries invited all United Nation members to increase coordination during relief operations during natural crises, particularly through using military assets, he said and called on all countries to re-evaluate the relief operations that is currently in use.
