HE President of Qatar's Supreme Judicial Council Meets Pakistani Shariat Court's Chief Justice
Islamabad, April 26 (QNA) - President of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC),HE Masood Mohammed Al Amri ,conferred here on Thursday with Agha Rafiq Ahmed Khan, the Chief Justice of the Federal Shariat Court (FSC) of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
During their meeting, held here last night, the two sides discussed scopes of joint cooperation and coordination in the judicial areas .
The SJC president, now visiting Pakistan at the invitation of the Federal Justice, presented a detailed explanation to the Pakistani side about the Qatari judiciary and made a presentation of the tireless and strenuous efforts exerted on part of the SJC to revive the judiciary and strengthen its independence.
The two sides also discussed how best to benefit of the alternative channels to settle the disputes in the pre-submission stage to the court. They also exchanged views on methods that contribute much to the speedy litigation procedures of the various cases and the experiences of each side in this respect.
The SJC president later conferred with Senator Syed Nayyer Hussian Bukhari, the Leader of the Senate at the parliament.
It is worthy to mention that the Federal Shariat Court (FSC) of Pakistan is a court which has the power to examine and determine whether the laws of the country comply with Shari'a law. It consists of 8 Muslim judges appointed by the President of Pakistan after consulting the Chief Justice of this Court, from amongst the serving or retired judges of the Supreme Court or a High Court or from amongst persons possessing the qualifications of judges of a High Court.(QNA)
