HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Opens Syrian Embassy in Doha

Doha, March 27 (QNA) - HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah on Wednesday jointly opened the headquarters of the Syrian embassy with Syrian National Coalition President Moaz al-Khatib. A number of Their Excellencies the ministers, senior foreign ministry officials, heads of the diplomatic missions accredited in Qatar, and a number of invitees attended the proceedings in the diplomatic district. Al-Khatib expressed gratitude for HH the Emir, the Qatari government and the Qatari people for their support to the Syrian uprising and their understanding of the Syrian people's painful experience. "We are here to open the first embassy in the name of the Syrian people who has been stripped of its right for 50 years," Al-Khatib said following the ceremony, adding that the morale of the rebels is at its peak and they are confident of victory "despite an international will not to let this revolution win." He said that he demanded the scope of Patriot missiles be extended for further 100 km in order to protect civilians but added that an international statement was released shortly afterwards to dismiss the proposal. This is "a new international cover for the Syrian regime," Al-Khatib said. The Coalition chief said the only way for the uprising to win is for all the domestic and abroad civilian, military and political forces to unite. (QNA)
