HE Al Mahmoud Meets British Special Envoy to South Sudan

Doha, April 09 (QNA) -HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State of Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud , conferred here on Tuesday with Robert Gowan , the UK special envoy to South Sudan. During the meeting , Gowan hailed the outcomes of the international conference on Reconstruction and Development of Darfur and the success it has realized earlier Monday in Doha. Talks during the meeting also dealt with the positive developments of the darfur peace process in light of the final accord signed in Doha earlier Saturday between the government of sudan and the justice and equality movement(JEM). Other topics tabled on the agenda of the Doha Document for Dafur Peace follow up committee, were also taken up. It is worth to mention that pledges of donor countries at the International Conference on Reconstruction and Development of Darfur totaled $3.696 dlrs, including pledges of the Sudanese government, according to the Doha Peace Document on Darfur, HE Qatar's Deputy Premier and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Ahmed Bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud said. Representatives of countries, organizations and funds expressed their political and financial support for the political strategy in Darfur. They reviewed their previous pledged and stressed the relationship between peace and development. They lauded the role played by Qatar, led by HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani in maintaining peace in Darfur and signing the Doha Peace Document on Darfur as well as the final agreement between the Sudanese government and the Justice and Equality Movement.(QNA)
