Hat Yai Shows Off Giant Lamps to Celebrate Its Mooncake Festival

SONGKHLA, Sept 11 (TNA) – Local authorities are ready to launch the Hatyai Moon Festival on Sept 12 -14 when the main southern business district of Hatyai will feature with giant lamps, illuminations and street arts among others. Songkhla deputy governor Sakara Kapilkan said the Hatyai Moon Festival 2019 was set on Niphat Uthit 1 and Thammanoon Withee roads in Hatyai district. Many sponsors were lending a helping hand for the special event, including the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Tourists Business Federation of Songkhla and the Thai-Chinese Association of Songkhla. The event was aimed at promoting the Mid-Autumn Festival aka the Mooncake Festival as well as tourism in Hatyai district. Giant lamps in red and other colors will line local roads. Street arts will be on Niphat Uthit 1 Road to represent Chinese cultures with ancient buildings as their backgrounds for visitors’ check-ins. There will also be contests of Moon Goddess Chang E and Moon Festival altars as well as a free concert, illuminations on Sino-Portuguese buildings, delicious mooncakes, dragon and lion dances and more than 100 food stalls, Mr Sakara said.
