Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart University, Al Maktoum College of Higher Education sign MoU

DUBAI, 4th April, 2018 (WAM) -- The Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the Al Maktoum College of Higher Education in Scotland, to promote cooperation, mutual understanding and cultural pluralism among their students and teachers, in line with the UAE’s directives to create an ambitious and responsible future generation who can shape the future. The MoU was signed by Dr. Mansour Al Awar, President of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart University, and Mirza Al Sayegh, Director of the Office of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Al Maktoum College of Higher Education, in the presence of senior officials from both sides. The two sides agreed to further invest in training related to vital areas, such as cultural pluralism, globalisation, contemporary topics, ethics, law, the Islamic economy, funding, social diversity and development, in line with the UAE Vision 2021. Dr. Al Awar highlighted the importance of signing the MoU with the college in Scotland, which is a beacon of knowledge and a platform for promoting tolerance and peaceful coexistence through its academic and training programmes in cultural pluralism. He also affirmed the university’s commitment to providing its students with the required knowledge that will enable them to become ambassadors of the values of moderation and the acceptance of others, which have made the UAE a model to follow in cultural and social communication. Both sides will aim to benefit from their available resources and promote the culture of excellence and scientific research among their students, teachers, experts and scholars, as well as to encourage innovative ideas on key modern topics.
