Gulf-Pharma Medical Conference to open on Wednesday

Manama, Sep1(BNA): The first Gulf-Pharma Medical Conference will open on Wednesday under the theme 'Making a Difference in Infectious Diseases'.
The two-day event will be held under the patronage of Supreme Health Council (SHC) Chairman Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa.
The conference is expected to attract more than four-hundred (400) doctors, pharmacists and specialists from Bahrain and abroad.
It is being organised by Bahrain Pharmacists Society and the Health Ministry’s medical department at the SMC, in co-ordination with the Saudi Pharmacists Society and will be attended by medics, pharmacists, undergraduate students and practising
Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa stressed the crucial importance of hosting the first Gulf-Pharma Medical Conference, which reflects Bahrain’s pioneering efforts to keep abreast of latest regional and international health trends and strengthen its readiness and capability to confront diseases and immunise society.
In statement to health blog "KalamSeha", he described the conference as the first regional health platform that brings together physicians and pharmacists. which reflects their complementary roles in combating infectious diseases.
The two-day platform will shed light on crucial medical issues, particularly antibiotic resistance, a problem which is raising growing concerns as antibiotics don’t work effectively to fight bacteria anymore.
He underscored the importance of the conference slogan which reflects mounting health challenges due to the outbreak of infectious diseases, citing particularly the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV).
He highlighted Bahrain’s dedicated efforts to avert any outbreak of the disease, in coordination with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and other relevant regional and international authorities.
