GOIC and Kuwait's Public Authority for Industry Cooperate

Doha, April 10 (QNA) -In an effort to develop industrial small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Kuwait, the Doha-based Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) in collaboration with the Public Authority for Industry in Kuwait initiated the second stage of the foundation of the Gulf Subcontracting and Partnership Exchange (GSPX) Centre in Kuwait. This undertaking is receiving technical support from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). In this context, Mohammed Bin Khamis Al-Mukhaini, the Assistant Secretary General for Industrial Information and Studies at GOIC stated: "Feedback, the bid winning company, will carry out a one-week pilot survey, and then a comprehensive survey of nearly 400 factories in Kuwait will take place in preparation for the inauguration of the Gulf Subcontracting and Partnership Exchange (GSPX) Centre." The GSPX Centre in Kuwait will operate as a mediator seeking bilateral agreements and partnerships between procurers and service providers, mainly small and medium enterprises. Furthermore, the Centre will be a Gulf industrial and technical information hub aiming at establishing rapport between procurers that require specific products or outsourcing services and experienced service providers, a press release issued here on Wednesday said. Moreover, this Centre will help supporting SMEs in Kuwait to make better use of existing production capabilities. In fact, the GSPX Centre will expand the opportunities and broaden the markets in terms of types and quantities required. It will also provide a platform for developing new industrial projects aiming at covering current market gaps based on supply and demand mechanisms. The Gulf Subcontracting and Partnership Exchange Centre in Kuwait comprise a database, a technical team and an information system operating as a service hub for technical information. The objective is to promote industrial networking between enterprises ordering the job and contractors or enterprises getting the job done. By establishing this Centre, the Public Authority for Industry seeks to facilitate the creation of production links between regional and international industrial companies. The Centre will provide information and technical services in order to benefit from the information repository and other technical support tools. The first step towards the execution of this project is the creation of a solid database that helps providing job opportunities to SMEs. In addition to that, a specialized team from an international company will carry out a field survey in order to identify available potentials and capacities for SMEs in Kuwait. The UNIDO has established 91 GSPX Centre in more than 40 countries. At the Gulf level, GOIC founded four subcontracting centres in Dubai, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, brought together by the Gulf Subcontracting and Partnership Exchange network. This network is intended to create additional job opportunities for member states. It includes more than 1500 Gulf manufacturing companies. It is worth to mention that the Doha-based Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) is a regional organization that brings together the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, the State of Qatar, the State of Kuwait and the Republic of Yemen. It is an advisory knowledge-based institution aiming at developing regional industries by providing data, information, specialized researches, consultations and technical services for the public and private sectors in GCC countries.
