Gadjah Mada University Hosts International Consortium Of Education, Research
JAKARTA, July 12 (Antara) - Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta is hosting the Consortium of ACC-21 International Graduate School 2017 entitled "Community and Indigenous-based Technology for Sustainable Development Towards Community Resilience" from July 10 to 15.
"We are proud to be entrusted to host the event. This is important as it is the first AC21 held in Indonesia," UGM¿s Rector Professor Panut Mulyono said, at the opening of International Graduate School 2017 here, on Tuesday.
The Academic Consortium for the 21st Century (AC21), which was established in 2002, is a network of international organizations comprising of education, research, and industries from around the world.
The forum, which consists of 24 member institutions, promotes cooperation in education and research among its members through various programs.
The AC21 2017 carries five learning components, namely public lectures by experts and professionals, workshops, internships in herbal health industry, community service, and excursion.
Yoshihito Watanabe, the Director of AC21, who is also the Vice President of Nagoya University, Japan, has expressed his appreciation to UGM, who is not only willing to host the event but has also prepared a series of programs for the participants.
"Thanks to the Rector of UGM and all those who have worked hard to prepare for this event in such a way," he noted.
Watanabe stated that through the event, participants are expected to gain understanding and enhance their ability to manifest their knowledge in the form of practical solutions to address real challenges in everyday life.
The participants are also expected to apply technology based on local values in local industry while studying local wisdom through cultural visits.
"Here, you will meet friends from different countries with different cultures. I hope you can learn more from each other," he added.
