Former DSI chief fired for unusually rich
BANGKOK, April 24 (TNA) - Former director-general of Thailand's Department of Special Investigation (DSI) Tarit Pengdit has been removed from the
bureaucracy, following the anti-graft commission’s finding that he was unusually rich.
Vilas Arunsri, Secretary-General to Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha, said in a statement, released to journalists at Bagnkok's Government House on Monday, that he has issued an order to fire Taris from the bureaucracy under his mandate as the former DSI chief's direct supervisor.
Vilas explained that the ex-DSI chief has been fired since April 3, after the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) found that he had gained unusual wealth of 346 million baht during his tenure.
Tarit was transferred to an inactive post at the Prime Minister's Office on May 24, 2014 and was then appointed to take the post of an adviser attached to the Office of the Secretariat to the Prime Minister on June 27, 2014. (TNA)
