Foreign Ministry: We Conducted Discussions On Mecca 2 Conference And Agreed To Be Held In Baghdad

BAGHDAD / NINA / Foreign Ministry announced holding talks with the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Mecca 2 conference, indicating that it was agreed to be held in Baghdad.
The ministry's spokesman, Ahmad Jamal said in a press statement today that "the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had, a few days ago, a series of informal discussions and consultations with the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah regarding the holding of Mecca 2 conference."
He added that "it was agreed that the main target of holding Mecca 2 conference is to activate and develop the decisions of Mecca 1 in order to achieve societal reconciliation facing the terrorism suffered by Iraq, and in the framework of the law and the new political system in the country", adding that "it was agreed also to hold the conference in Baghdad. "
The Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari earlier, called for the importance that the Mecca 2 conference to take into consideration the challenges that Iraq is going through and to move to a larger spaces to achieve credibility and presence, as the director of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Iraq Hamid al-Tinni emphasized continuing to help Iraq to get out of challenges He faces.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation held earlier session of consultations with the Iraqi official delegation, in preparation for the second Mecca conference for national reconciliation in Iraq.
It is mentioned that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation organized the first conference in 2006 and was attended by scholars and clerics, both Sunni and Shiite and issued «Mecca Document» to stop the fighting on a sectarian basis. / End
