Foreign Minister visits Moscow Grand Mosque

Moscow, Dec. 15 (BNA): Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa visited the Moscow Grand Mosque in Moscow during his current visit to Russia. He was welcomed by the Vice President of the Spiritual Administration for the Muslims of European Russia Shaikh Damir Gizatolen Halilovic. The Minister of Foreign Affairs commended keenness of the Russian Federation on the opening of the Grand Mosque which symbolizes tolerance, coexistence and openness on all countries as well as mutual respect among all religions Shaikh Khalid was briefed on the architectural design of the mosque, the history of its construction, and its divisions and facilities. Shaikh Damir Gizatolen Halilovic expressed his pride in the outstanding Bahraini – Russian relation wishing Bahrain prosperity and progress. The Moscow Grand Mosque has six storeys and is the biggest Mosque in Europe with an area of about 19,000 square meters which can accommodate at least 10,000 worshipers.
