Foreign minister receives SCW secretary-general

Manama, June 10 (BNA): Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa received in his office this morning the Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Hala Mohammed Al Ansari. The minister welcomed Al Ansari, and hailed the distinguished efforts of the Supreme Council for Women, led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women. He also praised the plans and informed programmes the SCW is implementing to empower Bahraini women who, he said, have become efficient players in the advancement of the Kingdom of Bahrain in all fields where they proved capable and where they are playing a vital role in all sectors as well as proving able to occupy senior posts as efficiently as men and fully participating in the ongoing development process. The minister also commended the existing cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Supreme Council for Women, uttering joint keenness to push forward this cooperation to benefit women, particularly in the diplomatic field. SCW Secretary General expressed happiness to have met the Minister within the framework of the SCW's policy of constant interaction with all government ministries and agencies for the benefit of women. She also paid tribute to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its close cooperation with the SCW and for providing a favourable atmosphere for the development of women, affirming the positive role played by the Ministry in the implementation of the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women.
