Foreign Minister Meets His Emirati Counterpart In Dubai

Baghdad / NINA / - Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein stressed the need for Iraq to support its brothers and the world to face challenges and accelerate construction and investment. The ministry's statement stated that the Minister of Foreign Affairs met Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, on the sidelines of the Sir Bani Yas Forum, held in its twelfth edition in Dubai, and during the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation relations in all fields to achieve interests. On the other hand, he praised the experience of the UAE in construction and the economy and its ability in a record period to create a model in the region, stressing the strength of the relations between the two brotherly countries and peoples, as well as Iraq's need to support its brothers and the world to face challenges and accelerate construction and investment, praising the foundations laid by the government throughout the past period which has yielded positive results. The minister praised the important steps that recently resulted in the signing of memoranda of understanding and agreements between the two countries, expressing the government's desire to cooperate with the UAE to invest in ports, noting that economic stability reflects positively on political stability. For his part, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed reassured the safety of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi’s state after the assassination attempt on him, and praised the efforts of the Iraqi government despite the short period in which it assumed its duties, which formed a glimmer of hope in encouraging the countries of the region to rapprochement with Iraq, and this resulted in a remarkable and significant development in terms of the level and quality of relations with the Arab and Gulf oceans on the one hand, and bilateral relations on the other. Bin Zayed indicated that there is an emotional connection between the Iraqi and Emirati peoples, stressing that his country is grateful to the Iraqis and extends thanks and gratitude to them for their contribution to building the UAE since its founding. He pointed out that the UAE desires to build a strong, politically stable and economically prosperous Iraq in the region, expressing his hope that the next government will follow the same approach that the current government has followed by continuing to strengthen relations with the Arab, regional and international environment and continuing to strengthen bilateral cooperation. The UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation also stressed the need to encourage the private sector and activate trade exchange, and directed Emirati institutions and concerned authorities to communicate with the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to activate joint action and open broad horizons for coordination and cooperation to serve the two countries. / End
