Foreign Minister calls on international community to intervene, put Israeli settlement policies to an end

Manama, Oct. 28 -- (BNA): Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, has called on the international community to assume its responsibility and firmly stand against Israel’s breach of international laws and conventions and recurrent assaults on the Palestinian occupied territories, urging immediate and crucial intervention to put an end to all forms of settlement policies that undermine the Palestinians’ rights. In a statement to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), the Minister condemned Israel’s decision to build 1,060 new illegal housing units in Ramat Shlomo and Jabal Abu Ghneim Settlements in East Jerusalem, affirming this Israeli step is a continuation of the unacceptable series of Israel’s violations and encroachment on the international law and legitimacy as well as on Geneva conventions. He said that the Israeli settlement activities are a blatant challenge to all the exerted efforts to revive the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations and clear provocation to the Palestinian people as well as involving a great deal of disdain towards the international will, which rejects the settlement policies that render the attainment of an acceptable solution out of reach. Continuing the expansionist settlement policies in the occupied Palestinian territories is a dangerous assault on international legitimacy and a deliberate unfair war on the Palestinian people and their rights in addition to being a dangerous policy that reflects Israel’s clear intention confiscate the Palestinian land and change its outlines, the Minister emphasized. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, underlined the unflinching position of the Kingdom of Bahrain in support of the full right of the brotherly Palestinians to establish their independent State within the 4th of June 1967 borderline, and with East Jerusalem as a capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and the two-state solution and on the basis of the International legitimacy and relevant UN resolutions.
