Foreign minister attends work luncheon

York, Sep.30 (BNA): The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, participated in the Work Lunch, held by Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Philip Hammond, for the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the GCC countries, on the sidelines of the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The two sides discussed bilateral cooperation ties and how to propel them to more advanced levels in addition to regional and global issues of common concern to both sides where the Minister expressed appreciation of the British side’s keenness on keeping on consultations and exchange of views with the GCC side in order to come up with a comprehensive vision on how to handle all the crises and problems of the region while preserving common interests and reinforcing regional peace and stability. He also termed such periodic meetings, especially those taking part on the sidelines of international gatherings like the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly as suitable opportunities to review and assess developments and then discuss ways and mechanisms of future coordination and action vis-à-vis those issues.
