FM: The Ministerial Committee of Baghdad Conference Will Hold A Meeting In New York On The Sidelines Of The 76th Session of the UNGA
Baghdad / NINA / - Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein announced that the Ministerial Committee of the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership will hold a meeting in New York on the sidelines of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said today that "the minister participated in the annual consultative meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level, which was held at the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of the State of Kuwait to the United Nations, on the sidelines of the work of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, headed by Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs in the State of Kuwait, President of the 156th session of the Arab League, with the participation of the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
During the meeting, a number of topics on the agenda of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, and the importance of promoting joint Arab action, and unifying positions on the Palestinian issue and the challenges facing countries in the region, were discussed.
In his intervention, the minister referred to the preparation for early elections and the arrival of international observers, where the United Nations Security Council decided to support Iraq in the electoral process, and accordingly the observers were sent, and he called on the Arab League to send observers like the International Organization and the European Union.
In another aspect of his intervention, the Minister touched on the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership and its outcomes, declaring that the Ministerial Committee of the Conference will hold a meeting in New York on the sidelines of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that the Baghdad conference will turn into a permanent platform for maintaining dialogue between the concerned countries, creating a state of cooperation and stability in the region, building economic partnerships, and protecting Iraq from external threats. / End
