FM: Azerbaijan can come to Europe with bigger gas volumes

Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 8 / Trend A.Badalova/ Azerbaijan can come to the European market with bigger volumes of gas, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said in an interview to Bloomberg. "Currently we are negotiating with the European Commission on the different ways of delivering natural gas to Europe," Mammadyarov said. He said that all the options on Azerbaijani gas delivery to Europe are on the table, and the decision on the best one, can probably be made in the beginning of the next year. Azerbaijan is currently considering the options of delivering its gas to the European market. The projects within the Southern gas Corridor (Nabucco, TAP and ITGI), which aim at transporting gas to be produced during the second stage of Azerbaijani Shah Deniz gas condensate field development, have already submitted their proposals to the Azerbaijani side. Within Shah Deniz-2 project Azerbaijan plans to supply 10 billion cubic meters per year to the European market. Mammadyarov said that if everything goes smoothly, including the technical issues, the first Azerbaijani gas can reach European market in 2018-2020. He noticed that recently Azerbaijan has signed all necessary documents with Turkey, including the transit agreement. "And now we have to define route how to supply the bigger volumes of gas not only to Turkey but also to the European market," Mammadyarov said. Do you have any feedback?
