Flash floods hit Phattalung in Thai South
PHATTALUNG, December 13 (TNA) - A third round of flash floods, caused by continual downpours, have inundated several areas in Thailand's southern Phattalung Province, affecting thousands of households and forcing local schools to temporarily close; while floods in the country's southernmost Narathiwat Province have been receding.
Areas in Phattalung hit by the flashfloods included several villages in Tamod District, with some of them, namely the Kao Hua Chang Municipality, having been submerged by about one-metre floodwater, affecting some 2,500 households and damaging 10,000 rai of local farmlands.
In Narathiwat, floodwater has been receding on a main road connecting Muang and Takbai Districts and on rural roads in the Muang Municipality. However, at Naratas Beach, waves were measured at about one meter, forcing smaller boats to stay ashore and over 100 seaside shops to shut down due to poor weather conditions. (TNA)
