Fish production in Kyrgyzstan doubled

Bishkek, May 12, 2022 . /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan has doubled its fish production, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the republic said. The country mainly produces two types of marketable fish - carp species and rainbow trout. Commercial fish production in 2021 amounted to 10 thousand 344 tons, in 2020 this figure was 5 thousand 139 tons. Along with the increase in production, the export potential is also growing. While in 2020 exports were just over 3 thousand tons, in 2021 exports reached more than 5 thousand tons. In 2021, Kyrgyzstan exported 5,139 tons. In 2021, works on artificial fish reproduction were carried out in Issyk-Kul, Son-Kul Lakes, Orto-Tokoi and Toktogul reservoirs. A total of 17,600,000 reared young fish such as Issyk-Kul trout, whitefish and carp were released. The Agriculture Ministry said that 194 fish farms in the unified state fishery registry of Kyrgyzstan, of which 30 farms export fish and fish products to Russia, Kazakhstan and third countries.
