Financial support handed out to violence-affected people in Thailand's deep South

YALA, November 15 (TNA) - Financial assistance has been handed out to people affected by insurgency-borne violence in Yala, following a spate of bomb attacks in the southernmost Thai province on October 25. Yala Governor Kritsada Boonrat presided over a ceremony to grant the 5.24-million-baht financial support to 88 local people whose assets have been damaged by the several bomb blasts in a single day. More than 10 explosions rocked the heart of Yala on October 25, killing at least two people and wounding more than 40 others. Local police believed that suspected insurgents were behind the violence to mark the seventh anniversary of the so-called Tak Bai tragedy on Oct 25, 2004, which resulted in 85 deaths. (TNA)
