Finance Ministry awarded ISO 27001:2013 Certificate

Manama, Nov. 24 (BNA): Ministry of Finance (MoF) has been awarded the ISO 27001:2013 Certificate on Management of Information Security, which covers the technical and information systems' services provided by the ministry. The certificate was received by Assistant Undersecretary for Resources & Information Ismail Al Marhoon, who said that MoF was one of the first government authorities that was awarded this certificate in the region, which indicates that the Information Security Management System (ISMS) at the ministry fulfills all the necessary requirements, in accordance with the international standards in this field. He affirmed the ongoing development of the information system in the security area, given its key role in Bahrain's financial management process. He noted that MoF is also in charge of the central financial system (CFS), which is a key tool for organizing the financial aspects of the government work through linking governmental ministries and authorities through related financial applications. MoF received ISO 27001:2005 in 2011 and receiving the new editions affirms the commitment to the latest standards related to the information security and constant update of the tools are mechanisms used in this field.
