ExxonMobil Official Sponsor of Qatar National Sport Day

Doha, February 09 (QNA) - Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) and ExxonMobil Qatar have signed a contract under which the company will be the official sponsor of Qatar National Sport Day, which falls next Tuesday, February 12, for three consecutive years. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the QOC headquarters in presence of HE QOC Secretary-General Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and President and General Manager of ExxonMobil Bert Cahir, as well as several officials. HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani praised ExxonMobil Qatar, pointing out to its many contributions to several national sports federations and sport events during the past years. HE the QOC Secretary-General underlined that the National Sport Day is an important event in Qatar as it reflects the state's interest in sports and its importance in the society in all respects, and also contributes to spreading awareness of the importance of exercise in the person's life. He expressed thanks to ExxonMobil for their clear social role in the development of sport in Qatar. For his part, Cahir expressed pride to support such an important community initiative to promote sports and healthy lifestyles among the population of Qatar. He noted that the celebration is a way to consolidate the values of sport in the Qatari culture and urge people to participate in sport activities in a manner that eventually builds awareness about the health benefits associated with regular activities. He underlined that the ExxonMobil shares the vision of Qatar that raising the country's profile in the international sports arena is contributing to highlight the long-term investments in the country, stressing that this commitment towards the sport has taken hold in the Qatari culture and became an important part in the lives of the Qatari people.
