The EU Is Increasing Its Financial Aid To Iraq For The Current Year

Baghdad, Iraq (NINA) - The European Union announced an increase in the value of aid to Iraq to 211 million Euros for the current year. "Assistance to Iraq will be earmarked for additional humanitarian assistance, long-term assistance to displaced, additional funding for demining operations and other stabilization efforts, as well as disaster response mechanisms," Federica Mogherini, EU foreign affairs chief, said. Mogherini praised "the Iraqi armed forces for the great victory over Daesh, which resulted in the liberation of the city of Mosul. She stressed that "the beneficiary of this victory is not only Iraq, but Europe as a whole, because it will weaken terrorism and its threats to European citizens."/ End
