Ensuring energy security of EAEU member states discussed at EEF in Bishkek

Bishkek, May 26, 2022. / Kabar /. The issues of ensuring the energy security of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states were discussed during the Eurasian Economic Forum in Bishkek.
The participants of the event noted that in the context of global challenges, the intensification of the global economic crisis and sanctions pressure, the issues of ensuring the energy security of the EAEU member states, independence from external conditions, processes and factors that threaten their sustainable development are becoming especially relevant.
In the current situation, integration processes in the energy sector are of particular relevance, the role and value of the common markets for energy resources of the Eurasian “five” countries and their coordinated energy policy are increasing, the participants noted.
The energy ministers of the EAEU member states believe that, first of all, it is the efficient use of the total energy potential through the creation of competitive energy markets.
At the same time, the efforts of the member states will be focused on issues related to the formation of the resource base within the EAEU, forecasting supply and demand, attracting investment in the energy sector, security of energy supply and the development of new technologies.
A business dialogue is also planned with representatives of the largest energy companies on the prospects for investing in projects to expand and develop oil and gas transportation infrastructure by private business, import substitution in the energy sector, as well as expanding export opportunities by redirecting hydrocarbon export flows, the participants said.
