Efficiency of Thai farm sector raised
BANGKOK, July 3 (TNA) - Various agencies have joined hands in introducing new management technologies and knowledge to be applied for further developing the Thai farm sector.
Bangkok-based Kasetsart University on Tuesday signed an agreement to jointly introduce the new management technologies and knowledge with four agricultural cooperatives located in almost all Thai regions, including Nang Rong Agricultural Cooperatives in the northeastern Buriram provinces, San Patong Agricultural Cooperatives in the northern Chiang Mai province, Ta Khlong Agricultural Cooperatives in the central Lopburi province and Chian Yai Agricultural Cooperatives in the southern Nakhon Si Thammarat province, as well as the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC) and Farm Channel.
Kasetsart University President Associated Professor Wutthichai Kapinkan said that practical management of agricultural knowledge is crucial for boosting Thailand's production potential, suggesting that applications of information technology (IT) for providing knowledge and promoting agricultural knowledge to local farmers and business operators need to be also materialized.
Cooperation on introducing the innovative management technologies and knowledge between the agreed parties includes those on Internet, mobile phone and cable TV utilization, aimed to reduce production costs, to control quality of products and services and to develop Thailand's new generations farmers based on the Sufficiency Economy Principle advised by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
