Education Minister Meets Operators, Directors of Independent Schools
Doha, July 16 (QNA) - HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education and Secretary-General of the Supreme Educational Council (SEC) Dr. Mohammed Abdul Wahed Al-Hammadi said Tuesday that schools are an essential component of the educational process which its output is a competent student.
Speaking during a meeting with the operators and directors of independent schools today, HE the Minister noted that the success of the educational process is subject to the student's competence and quality as well as his/her success in labor market. He added that the main role of the school is to prepare students for life, while the role of the Supreme Education Council (SEC) is to support the schools in accomplishing their missions and objectives.
"I am honored that HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani has entrusted me to take on that responsibility," HE the Minister said, noting that there were many issues in the educational process that need to be addressed.
HE the Minister also undelined the importance of providing all employees in schools with their rights and revising the policies related to their promotion.
HE the SEC Secretary-General said that he was looking forward to interacting with them to overcome the challenges facing them to improve the educational process.
HE the Minister of Education and Secretary General of SEC Dr. Mohammed Abdul Wahed Al-Hammadi praised the performances of some schools, highlighting the importance of conducting evaluation tests, while praising the role of SEC in carrying out evaluations and honoring distinguished schools.
HE the Minister also stressed that that there would be no room for complacency and negligence because the goal is to improve the educational process. HE the Minister said that he would set the priorities to deal with the challenges in order to overcome them.
For their part, the school operators expressed their delight at meeting HE the Minister, terming it as a great initiative. They said that HE the Minister has touched upon a number of sensitive subjects related to the educational system, and that he provided a clear road map on how to overcome the challenges facing education in Qatar as well as the role that can be played by school operators.
In the same context, School Operator of Mohammed bin Jassim Middle School Mohammed bin Rabia Al Kuwari praised the keenness shown by HE the Minister to interact with school operators in order to ensure the development of the educational process.
School Operator of Al Shafei Middle School Hamad Al Henzab expressed his appreciation to the initiative made by HE the Minister and wished him success in his task. (END)
