EBRD ready to launch number of new projects in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, April 26, 2022. /Kabar/. Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to the United Kingdom Ulan Dzhusupov met with the leadership of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) at the organization's headquarters in London on April 21-22.
The Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said that during the meeting with EBRD Managing Director for Central Asia Zsuzsanna Hargitai and Director of EBRD regional office in Kyrgyzstan Ayten Rustamova, joint activities timed to 30 years of cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and EBRD were discussed. 207 projects worth more than $800 million were implemented during this period.
The sides considered new projects ready for launch: Bishkek Buses, Green Cities, Irrigation System Development and Construction of Chakan HPP.
It was noted that the EBRD fully shares Kyrgyzstan’s priorities in the field of green economy and renewable energy, and is ready to assist in their implementation, as well as in solving current problems in the energy sector of the republic.
Hargitai emphasized that the Bank positively assessed the resolution of the dispute between Kyrgyzstan and Centerra Gold on the Kumtor deposit, and that this will improve the future investment prospects of the country.
During a meeting with Chagatay Imirgi, the member of the EBRD Board of Directors, representing the interests of the Kyrgyz Republic, an importance of EBRD support for investment projects intended for Kyrgyzstan was noted.
