Dr. Hessa Al-Jaber's Address Before the Opening Session of Connet Arab World Summit 2012
Doha, March 06 (QNA) -Dr. Hessa Al-Jaber, the Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Information Technology (ictQATAR), has underlined the importance of the Connect arab world summit 2012 which kicked off at the Doha Sheraton Hotel in presence of several Their Highnesses and Excellencies guests of the country.
In her address before the opening session , Dr. Hessa Al-Jaber ,'' our goal is to enable each arab citizen and resident by the year 2014 to get an access to all means of digital communications to become part and parcel of such increasing digital world regionally and internationally.
She further said, '' If we missed to catch up with the industrial revolution, we can catch up the digital revolution which is still ahead of us.''
The ictQATAR's Secretary General noted, "We look forward to be able to help all individuals in the Arab region have access to the means of digital reliable and available communications at reasonable prices that cope with their income. This ambition is our goal which really is connecting the Arab citizen and his right of access to broadband as a simple form of digital communications that can secure for our people in our age. "
Dr. Hessa Al-Jaber viewed that the conductivity is only a path to facilitate access to wider horizons and levels of development, which are called digitization, which centered on the widespread adoption of all forms and formats of digital technology and its applications on part of both the consumers , the companies and the governments.
She pointed out that success may be a form of failure if we forget our priorities as a first step in the delivery as a first step and digitization as a second step, which are all aimed at boosting the economic and social development managed by good and sound governance.
Dr. Hessa Al-Jaber stressed the need for the Arab world, armed with all the means of digital technology in the long journey towards a brighter future .. She said "If we want the development of our economies by more than 7% annually and in a sustainable way to double the rates of income and production every ten years as well as provide 75 million jobs by 2020 and building societies are making the level of progress required by the 21th century , thus we must be armed by means of digital technology.
Concluding her address, Dr. Hessa Al Jaber highlighted the wise leadership of HH the emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and which accorded given top priority to ICT as a key element in achieving the Qatar National Vision.
ictQATAR's Secretry General said that the care HH the emir accorded to this event showed his strict commitment to help connect the Arab world and the importance it attaches to collective action in the region to achieve this goal.(QNA)
