Doha Third Forum to Fight Human Trafficking Kicks Off Next Tuesday

Doha, January 16 (QNA) - Doha Third Forum to combat human trafficking is to commence here on Tuesday under the slogan "Contemporary trends to combat trafficking in human beings". The event is being organized by Qatar Foundation for Combating Human Trafficking (QFCHT), in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, and the Arab League, with the participation of 350 participants from all over the world including consultants, experts and specialists in this field. Mariam-Al-Malki, the Director-General of the Qatar Foundation for Combating Human Trafficking, said in a press conference here on Wednesday that the Doha Third Forum is the only Arab event specialized in the field of combating this phenomenon in the Arab region, under the auspices of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser. Al-Malki expressed thanks and appreciation to HH Sheikha Moza for her sponsorship of this annual forum, and to the partners in the implementation of the Arab initiative project for capacity building, namely the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the Arab League. She confirmed Qatar's deep interest in human rights and his fundamental freedoms, noting that such interest has been translated in practice through the opportunity for (QFCHT) to adopt this initiative in cooperation with its strategic partners. The Director-General of the Qatar Foundation for Combating Human Trafficking explained that the Arab initiative is one of the most important Arab and international initiatives that focused on combating trafficking in human beings. She further said in this regard that the Foundation has been involved in the design, implementation, evaluation and assessment programs of such an initiative according to the training needs of the Arab countries, the matter which reflected on the mechanism for the implementation of these programs for the first year successfully and wished the continuation of this success for the coming years. Mariam al-Malki added that human trafficking is one of the most dangerous phenomena taking place in the contemporary world, noting that it is also one of the phenomena sophisticated and mutated in space and time, so which requires the development of mechanisms and means to combat them at all levels nationally, regionally and globally. Thus the Doha Third Forum comes under the title: "Trends Contemporary to combat trafficking in human beings, "indicating that the main objective of this forum is to monitor and analyze the most important, modern and sophisticated trends in the world in general, and at the level of the Arab countries in particular, in the fight against this crime. Mariam al Malki has earlier announced that the QFCHT had succeeded in the recruitment of art and press media to support combating human trafficking. It used the best means available in order to deliver its vision and human mission that aims to serve the community through the recruitment of art and different press media and inviting special artists, who work in the cinema, theater and other fields of arts to participate actively in supporting the efforts of QFCHT to achieve its mission. This has a positive and effective impact in delivering human ideas and values to society through press media and satellite channels in which they participate, to serve the community issues in order to achieve a society free of any form of human trafficking. Also to invest their attendance in conferences, seminars and forums it organizes or being involved in, as well as in awareness and education campaigns that it carries out to create an awareness and culture of in-depth anti-trafficking, and to support victims and to protect all segments of society, especially women and children and to raise the family's role in preventing their children from delinquency and crime in all its forms.
