Doha Hosts Arab Conference for Developing Human Rights System Tomorrow
Doha, June 02 (QNA) - The Arab Conference for developing Arab League (AL) Human Rights system jointly organized by National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) and The Arab Institutions Network for Human Rights will begin tomorrow, Monday, at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Doha.
Participants include 105 major organizations and regional and international personalities, according to NHRC website. They include deputy Arab League Chief Ahmed Ben Helli, Al-Tahir Massry, a former Jordanian premier, and number of prominent Arab figures and dignitaries; in addition to participation, by the GCC, The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as European, African and American Human Rights Courts.
In a press statement, the organizing committee reviewed conference objectives which include developing the Arab Human Rights System through the development and creation of proper conventions and Human Rights treaty and no-treaty mechanisms.
In the context of these objectives, the statement added that, 10 working papers and four workshops are included in the Conference's program. Also tabled on the agenda are: issues related to the Arab Human Rights System-challenges, opportunities, AL reforms, the role of civil society organizations in developing the AL Human Rights System and the role of the Office of the Human Rights Commissioner.
The conference will also tackle Human Rights Diplomacy, promoting Arab inter-relations, the European, American, African and Arab Human Rights Systems. (QNA)
