Doha Due to Host Meeting on Arab Strategy for Standardization

Doha, February 05 (QNA) - The high committee assigned to prepare the Arab Strategy for Standardization 2014-2018 will meet in Doha tomorrow ,Wednesday . The two-day meeting, to be held under the auspices of HE the Minister of Environment, will be attended by representative from the Arab member states of the committee, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Lebanon in addition to General Manager of the Arab Industrial Development and Mining Organization (AIDMO) and a representative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The meeting will be held in the framework of the cooperation between UNIDO and AIDMO, with Qatar as the Secretary of the Technical Committee. Developing standardization bodies and quality infrastructure to match international requirements is one of the main topics to be discussed in the meeting, in addition to developing the system of issuing unified Arab standards, strengthening the participation of the concerned parties, Establishing and strengthening the relations and engagements with Arab, regional and international organizations. Qatar's hosting of such a meeting comes upon the recommendations of the first meeting of the committee, which was held in Rabat, Morocco, last November. (QNA)
