Diplomatic Institute Organizes A Training Course on Negotiating Skills

Doha, January 26 (QNA) -A training course on negotiation skills concluded here on Saturday . The event was organized by the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and attended by 45 employees of the ministry and some state institutions. Dr. Saeb Erekat, the head of the negotiations affairs Department in the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) has given lectures to the course attendants. The course included several topics focussing on the skills needed by the negotiator, and negotiating requirements, and work pressure, crisis management, and how to limit the damage, reading , listening and speaking skills, preparations for negotiations, the composition of delegations and the distribution of roles. In his lectures dr. Erekat also focussed on the elements of the negotiations, which include interest, communication, options, alternatives, and relationships, and commitment. Dr. Saeb Erekat, meantime presented a series of default negotiating exercises in various areas of negotiations, involving all participants in the training course. At the end of the session, HE Ambassador Dr. Hassan bin Ibrahim Al Mohannadi, the Director of the Diplomatic Institute and Dr. Saeb Erekat distributed attedence certificates to the participants.
