Deputy premier receives NIHR annual report

Manama, Jan. 26 (BNA): Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa received at the Gudaibiya Palace today the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) President Abdulaziz Hassan Abul and a number of NIHR board members, who presented to him the NIHR’s annual report for 2014. The deputy premier lauded the efforts exerted by the NIHR in preparing its annual report according to the international standards and human rights principles. He also hailed the role played by the NIHR in spreading and consolidating human rights, guaranteed by the Constitution and strengthened through the Reform Project spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, stressing that the kingdom’s landmark human rights strides have earned it international praise. He affirmed that the source of strength of the Bahraini society is its tolerance, respect for others and pluralism, stressing that the pillars of human rights are preserving public order and rule of the Law through which economic and social development rights can be guaranteed for everyone. Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak reiterated the government’s support to all efforts exerted by the National Institution for Human Rights in order to enable it to assume the national role assigned to it. The NIHR President gave a presentation in which he detailed the NIHR’s work and achievements. He thanked the deputy premier for the audience, and constant support to the NIHR.
