Deputy premier receives ILO director-general

Manama, Oct. 6 (BNA): Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa received at the Gudaibiya Palace today, in the presence of Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan the Director-General of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Guy Ryder, currently on a visit to the kingdom to take part in the first Annual Global Employers' Summit, organised by the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC).
The deputy premier welcomed Guy Ryder, and highlighted the existing Bahrain-ILO cooperation, stressing that Bahrain's membership in ILO's Board of Directors has enhanced the level of such cooperation.
Through its achievements at the level of sustainable and education and training development, the Kingdom has created a suitable environment for developing businesses, increasing investment and generating job opportunities, the deputy premier said.
He added that thanks to its legislation and laws, Bahrain has ensured the rights of workers and addressed their issues through fostering constructive cooperation among the three production parts, which, he said, achieves the interests of workers, increases productivity and boosts investments which creates more job opportunities.
ILO director-general thanked the deputy premier for the audience, and lauded the on-going cooperation between ILO and the Government of Bahrain.
He also praised the kingdom's efforts to protect the workers' rights.
