DEPUTY PM EXCHANGES VIEWS WITH INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS LEADERS

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In the frames of the Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR), Deputy Prime Minister U.Enkhtuvshin received leaders of some international organizations on July 5.
When the Deputy PM received Chairman of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) Krasae Chanawongse, he mentioned that the National Emergency Management Agency of Mongolia (NEMA) has been actively participating in ADPC activities since 2002, noting representatives of Mongolia are regularly participating in a long or short-term trainings on disaster management and improving skills and knowledge.
Deputy PM U.Enkhtuvshin highlighted that the NEMA in cooperation with the ADPC and UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) conducted a three stage workshop themed ‘Journalists’ engagement in Disaster Risk Reduction’ involving over 100 journalists and media professionals.
He also noted that the AMCDRR is highly significant as the representatives from 50 countries are exchanging their experiences on reducing disaster risk.
In response, Chairman Krasae Chanawongse said that the ADPC is interested in developing its cooperation with Mongolia firmly and jointly working on saving citizens’ lives and their possessions.
Following the meeting, Deputy PM U.Enkhtuvshin met Secretary-General of the International Civil Defense Organisation, Dr. Vladimir Kuvshinov where the Deputy PM expressed gratitude to the ICDO for supporting the NEMA for its capacity building and involving Mongolian representatives in international workshops that hosted by ICDO member countries.
Afterwards, ICDO Secretary General Vladimir Kuvshinov introduced modern cutting-edge technology that predicts disasters such as fire and flood from space and expressed its interest in introducing the technology to Mongolia.
