Deputy economy minister and Head of IMF mission discuss prospects for socio-economic development of Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Nov. 10, 2022. /Kabar/. The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (IEC) of the Kyrgyz Republic hosted a meeting between First Deputy Minister Choro Seyitov and head of the mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Nikoloz Gigineishvili within the framework of Article IV of the agreement with the IMF.
At the meeting, the issues of recent changes in the economy and prospects for the socio-economic development of the Kyrgyz Republic were discussed, the press service of the ministry reported.
Seyitov briefly highlighted the results of 9 months of 2022, spoke about the current situation in the economy and measures taken to overcome the impact of negative external shocks on the economy of Kyrgyzstan, and also provided detailed information on the questions of interest to the mission.
In turn, Gigineishvili thanked for the comprehensive information, spoke about the goals of this mission under Article IV of the agreement with the IMF, also assessed the macroeconomic situation in Kyrgyzstan and expressed concern on some issues.
In addition, he drew attention to the implementation of reforms in the Kyrgyz Republic in such areas as the employment system in the public sector and the wage fund, the energy sector, public procurement.
He also informed that the IMF staff had prepared analytical materials on the topics “Social protection systems and poverty in the Kyrgyz Republic”, “Adaptation to climate change and mitigation of its consequences in the Kyrgyz Republic”, “Governance of state enterprises”, and expressed readiness to discuss these areas and joint work to develop effective mechanisms.
