Culture Ministry Celebrates World Heritage Day
Doha, April 17 (QNA) - The ministry of culture, arts and heritage is to celebrate tomorrow, Thursday, the world heritage day which coincides April 18 of every year .The three-day celebration, to be held at the heritage village in Al Bida Park, will witness a wide scale participation on part of the Qatari citizens and the expatriate communities
The celebration includes folkloric and artistic shows and presentations including al-marawda art and allewaa. Other folkloric presentations will be displayed on part of Omani, Egtyptian, Tunisian, Palestinian, Indian and Philippine folkloric troupes.
Other night evenings will be also held in association with the other activities such as handcrafts and popular games for children.
A group of the Qatari folkloric heritage and other contributors, who are interested in maintaining such a Qatari folklore and transferring it to the youth generation, will be also honoured during the celebration.
Al Bida Park, stretching over two miles along the fascinating Corniche Bay of Qatar, has a Heritage Village that resembles a traditional Qatari village, and also an open-air theater that's used for the annual Doha Cultural Festival.
World Heritage is the shared wealth of humankind. Protecting and preserving this valuable asset demands the collective efforts of the international community. This special day offers an opportunity to raise the public's awareness about the diversity of cultural heritage and the efforts that are required to protect and conserve it, as well as draw attention to its vulnerability.
Heritage day is celebrated with an aim to educate the youth about protection, preservation and propagation of world heritage. World Heritage Day is a collective effort of the communities in the world to do the needful for these invaluable assets. The day takes an opportunity to hoist awareness about the assortment of cultural legacy and the efforts that are required to protect and conserve them and also to think about its susceptibility. (QNA)
