CSB issues instructions on employees accompanying cancer relatives

Manama, Feb. 16 (BNA): Upon the directives of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and his Highness concern for cancer patients, especially children, the president of the Civil Service Bureau (CSB) Ahmed bin Zayed Al Zayed issued the Civil Service instruction No. (4) for the year 2016 on the leave for employees traveling with relatives of the first degree suffering from cancer, to facilitate on employees first-degree relative (father, mother and children, father and mother of the husband or wife), dignosted as cancer patients by granting them paid leave to accompany them for treatment and repeated visits inside or outside the Kingdom, as the patient needs an urgent care during the treatment periods. CSB president expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Prime Minister for his keenness on taking into account the circumstances of the relatives of cancer patients, particularly parents, stressing that these instructions are based on the legislative basis of Article 20 of the Civil Service Law No. (48) for the year 2012, and article (31) of the executive regulations of this law on the issued Resolution No. (51) for the year 2012. Al Zayed explained that these instructions contribute to increasing the benefits of the employees through granting them paid leave to accompany a relative of first degree suffering from cancer and the medical commission decide that the patient needs company while being treated inside the kingdom for a period prescribed for the treatment not exceeding one month, continuous or intermittent per year, instead of seven days as it was in force previously, and the employee is granted paid leave to accompany a relative of first degree suffering from cancer and the medical commission decides that the patient needs a company while being treated outside the kingdom for a period prescribed for the treatment ,not more than four month, continuous or intermittent per year, instead of two months as it was in force previously. The employee must take care of cancer patient and accompany him/her during the periodic visits and the treatment inside or outside Bahrain, and must submit evidence to this effect from the concerned authorities and the physicians. The president of CSB indicated that the total number of days for accompany leave for employees traveling with their first degree relatives suffering from cancer should not exceed one month if the treatment is inside the Kingdom of Bahrain and for four months out side the Kingdom, in accordance with these instructions and the accompany leave days set forth in item (6) of Article No. (31) of the executive Regulations for the Civil Service Law issued by resolution No. (51) for the year 2012. With respect to the procedures, Al Zayed explained that the employee should submit a leave request electronically, attached with documents and medical reports required by the medical commission, identity of the employee and the patient and the medical report (Inside the Kingdom) and supporting documents like a copy of departure and return stamps form the passport of the employee and the patient (outside the Kingdom), it has to be in coordination with the relevant human resources in the government entity, the request for the accompany leave then needs to be approved by the medical commission. The Civil Service Instructions No. (4) for the year 2016 on accompany leave for employees traveling with relatives of the first degree suffering from cancer has been circulated to all government entities and has been placed on CSB Portal, allowing easy view and access by these entities.
