Crown Prince visits Expo Milano 2015

Milan, Sept. 4 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister today visited Expo Milano 2015, in Milan, Italy. His Royal Highness highlighted the pivotal role Expo Milano 2015 has played in promoting global interest in the challenges of sustainable food supply, energy and natural resources. His Royal Highness went on to emphasise the Kingdom’s commitment to investing in its natural resources to support sustainable economic development and benefit Bahrain’s future generations. His Royal Highness then underscored the Kingdom’s continued commitment to develop and implement policies and programmes that support Bahrain’s farming community. In this regard, His Royal Highness noted that the Kingdom has launched several initiatives, including the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) and the King Hamad Prize for Agricultural Development, which introduce Bahraini farmers to the latest agricultural technologies through various training and development programmes. His Royal Highness concluded by congratulating the organisers of Expo Milano 2015 for their remarkable achievement, highlighting that the event has showcased the best of Milan and Italy to the world. His Royal Highness then toured Bahrain’s 2000 square metres pavilion, accompanied by Bruno Pasquino, Commissioner General of the World Expo 2015 and Shaikh Khaled bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs along with a number of other senior Italian and Bahraini officials. Bahrain’s pavilion at Expo Milano 2015 is commissioned by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, and it features 10 distinct gardens showcasing the Kingdom’s agrarian heritage and culture, as well as historic archaeological artefacts that date back to the ancient civilization of Dilmun. The pavilion will be moved to Bahrain upon the conclusion of the expo where it will be transformed into an attractive botanical garden.
