Crown Prince meets UK Foreign Secretary

London, May.21 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, today met the UK Foreign Secretary, Philip Hammond MP, at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London. At the start of the meeting, His Royal Highness praised the long-standing ties between Bahrain and the UK, and noted the Kingdom’s commitment to bolstering collaboration and coordination with its international allies, particularly in maintaining security and stability in the region. In this regard, His Royal Highness highlighted the role of His Majesty King Hamad’s recent visit to the UK as a demonstration of the strategic and historic bilateral relationship between the two countries. His Royal Highness and the Foreign Secretary further discussed broader security cooperation to deter and confront extremist groups in the region. His Royal Highness stressed the efforts of Bahrain and the UK to achieve shared regional and strategic goals, including fighting illicit funding of terrorists groups across the region and wider world. The meeting also presented an opportunity to discuss issues of security and stability in the region and wider world, including the commitment to the development of positive relations across the region, based on mutual respect for sovereignty and adherence to the principles of good neighbourliness and non-interference in internal affairs.
